Neurotoxin Injections including Jeuveau, Xeomin, Dysport, Botox, and Daxxify (Anti-wrinkle injections)
Anti-wrinkle injections are made of a natural, purified protein and neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Botox was originally intended for people with crossed eyes in 1970 and case studies soon followed that showed it also had great benefits for stopping muscle spasms, specifically on the face. By 1978, it was being used cosmetically. The injections work by relaxing certain wrinkle-causing muscles to produce a younger and fresher appearance. They inhibit the transmission of neurotransmitters from nerve to muscle and stop the muscle from contracting and forming a wrinkle.
Anti-wrinkle injections do not replace lost volume, in other words, they do not plump or re-volumise the skin. To plump or revolumise the skin, dermal fillers are an effective treatment. Dermal fillers are often confused with anti-wrinkle injections, but best anti-ageing results are achieved when the two treatments are used in conjunction with each other.
How long do wrinkle-relaxers work? Approximately 3 months
Will wrinkle-relaxers take away my lines?
If your lines are there when your face is still, with regular treatments, they will soften and may entirely go away. If the lines are only there when you move your face, wrinkle-relaxers will prevent those lines from etching in.
At what age should I get wrinkle-relaxers?
Whenever you notice, wrinkles are starting to set in in areas you do not want them to.
